About this artwork
This is the work used for the poster for my solo exhibition titled "Visions of Portraiture," because it was the work that led me to create the rest of these free-form portraits, in which capturing emotion, character, or the moment is more important than resemblance to any reference or model. The final version of the work bears no resemblance to the initial one, because each layer is created instinctively. This particular portrait shows the intensity…
and depth of a gaze that holds inner secrets. Using oil and pastel, I blend realism and semi-abstraction to convey emotion and mystery. My intention is to create a vibrant presence that fills any space with strength and sensitivity, compelling the observer to pause and engage in an inner conversation with the work.
She was selected for the online exhibition "Rivers of Dreams" and won the Artistic Excellence Award in the 2023 Spotlight Magazine competition.
