In "Harvest," I explore human existence within the tension between cyclical nature and hard work. The composition guides the viewer's gaze from the young generation in the foreground to the stooped figure of an old woman in the background—a symbol of the continuity of the human condition. The couple remains in a pose and gaze that suggests an event beyond the picture plane, while the "in-between" space between late summer light and impending rain…
creates a metaphysical tension. Here, I visualize individuation within the community; the field becomes a sanctuary, a place to pause before the approaching rain.
