About this artwork
This painting is part of my St Ives Collection. It is the second work inspired by the old cottages and tightly packed streets in the famous cornish fishing town of St Ives. I spend alot of time in Cornwall and invariably travel over to St Ives with my sketchbook. The old part of the town is known for its whitewashed stone cottages and narrow alleys or opes as they are known in Cornwall. This is my impression of shadows on walls, glimpses of steps…
down to the harbour, flashes of blue sky and that trademark turquoise sea.
