About this artwork
Thistles contribute to high biodiversity by providing protein-rich food for many insects. The thistle also symbolizes steadfastness; for example, it is incorporated into the Scottish coat of arms. I contrasted the faded, imposing thistles with the colored surface texture of my studio reflector; here, thistle, texture, and technique layer to form a single image.
