About this artwork
Still in the "Fantasies" series, here's a second drawing whose genesis I'd be hard-pressed to explain. As I've mentioned elsewhere, ideas just pop into my head for a moment without me having planned any particular "framework." This sometimes results in characters that might seem incongruous. This second painting is called "Pine Needles." Taking numerous photos during my "countryside" walks (or other walks, for that matter), I create a sometimes surprising… wardrobe for my characters.
Throughout his 50-year artistic career, Christian Paboeuf uses both music and computer graphics, in a way strangely reminiscent of painting. He applies surrealist techniques, shaping his works from photographs to evoke impalpable emotions through color, perspective, and illusionistic paths. His art, marked by the omnipresence of skies and riddled with uncertainty, conveys the importance of journeying, questioning, and doubt, while suggesting that our quest for goals is less relevant than the path we take to get there.
