About this artwork
Inspired by a childhood journey to Ayiti, the homeland of my mother. I was deeply marked by the vastness and contrasting realities of the landscape scarred by the earthquake, yet still filled with intense energy.
It explores the fragile threshold between presence and disappearance within the landscape.
Created using traditional Indian ink and natural pigments on vegetal paper, the work unfolds through delicate layers of monochrome blue, where geological… forms emerge and dissolve simultaneously.
Through minimal gestures and fluid diffusion, the landscape becomes unstable, hovering between memory,
erosion, and transformation. The empty spaces surrounding the forms create a contemplative tension, inviting the viewer into a slowed and meditative perception of nature.
Rooted in ecological awareness and inspired by the sublime traditions of landscape painting, the work reflects on the fragility of natural environments and evolving relation to them.
Christopher Prévot is an accomplished French painter who uses ink, natural pigments, recycled paper, and ceramics, drawing and painting from a multicultural background and fine art training in the prestigious : Central Saint Martins in London. And Les Beaux Arts de Paris. His works, rooted in process-based and ecological methods, employ monochrome palettes, layering, dilution, and organic materials to evoke atmospheric and contemplative landscapes. Prévot’s meditative compositions conjure a sense of awe, fragility, and spiritual connectedness, inviting viewers to pause, reconnect with nature, and feel a profound sense of belonging in a fragile world.
