About this artwork
"A chromatic immersion in trance: Gesture as seduction."
Growing Narcosis is a large-format work that invites the viewer on a sensory and psychological journey. Belonging to my 2016 gestural abstraction series, this piece captures a moment of transition, a kind of hypnosis or chromatic trance where the pictorial matter and the gesture merge in a state of tense and seductive calm.
This work exemplifies my period of consolidation in large-format… abstract expressionism. Its title, Creciente Narcosis (Growing Narcosis), and its powerful chromatic palette make it an ideal piece for collectors seeking art that combines visual impact with a profound psychological narrative. Owning this work invites reflection on states of consciousness and art's capacity to induce a contemplative trance.

Credentials
- Works on commission
For Juanjo Ortubia, art is a tool for transformation. Specializing in the intersection of painting and printmaking, his work stems from a visceral connection with nature and matter. Through decisive gestures and rich textures created with a palette knife and complex printmaking techniques, Ortubia explores the duality of human experience. His compositions not only reveal inner darkness but also tirelessly seek hidden light, offering the viewer a refuge for introspection and a healing vision of our reality.
