About this artwork
Two children urinate against a wall: a primitive, spontaneous, inevitable gesture.
A return to the origins: a corporeal, instinctive act, free of cultural mediation. At the edges of the composition appear two white figures, almost abstract presences. White represents the purity of intention, the original space of the creative act. They represent the primordial attitude to the gesture of painting: before language, before form, before rules.
Writings,… signs, and scribbles pile up in the center of the wall. It's the site of the artist's inner chaos: overlapping thoughts, enigmatic symbols, fragments of visual memory. Some signs emerge as recognizable quotations, tributes to art spanning time. Among them, references to Marcel Duchamp's "The Fountain" and James Ensor's "The Pisseurs" emerge. The title, Artist's Piss, openly engages with the historical provocation of Piero Manzoni's "Artist's Shit."
The work thus moves between innocence and irreverence and freedom.
