About this artwork
People are drawn to Western Australia for many reasons; its vast, open landscapes, rugged outback terrain and pristine coastline. There’s a longing here that goes deeper than tourism or lifestyle. It’s a longing for space, stillness and breath. For many, WA represents the dream of something quieter and more balanced; a kind of life that feels more rooted and connected to both the land and time. In ‘Burning Bush’, I seek to capture that tension between…
the ordinary and the sacred. The bush, the dust, the land; they are familiar to anyone who has lived through a West Australian summer. There is heat and there is smoke. There is a kind of harsh beauty that pushes against the edges of survival and yet, it is here, right here, that I sense something greater at work.
