About this artwork
The central pattern of the artwork consists of a complex arrangement of triangles that form a larger octagonal shape, with a yellow square at its center. Each corner of the surface showcases a unique element resembling a symbol for the Buddhist Stupa, with quarter-circles and small orbs, adding a dynamic twist to the overall composition.
I took great care in reflecting on Buddhist symbols and incorporating them into the design of this artwork. My… goal was to capture the essence of Buddhist art while incorporating my own style and interpretation.
To frame the composition, I incorporated a thick gray border directly onto the surface, adding a sense of containment and contrast to the vivid colors within.
Danette Newton, a seasoned artist armed with oil paints and acrylics, originates from a modest background. Her vibrant, geometric designs are interlaced with abstract, figural landscapes, produced free-hand demonstrating the beauty in natural imperfections. Newton’s creations are a dynamic exploration of color relationships, and an empathetic ode to the perfectly flawed human condition.
