About this artwork
I'm currently working on a piece titled "No Justice For Us." This abstract artwork reflects the struggles faced by women who are sexually assaulted and often don’t see justice or are believed. The vibrant colors and geometric shapes are meant to evoke the complex emotions surrounding this important issue.
As I layer the paint, I’m reminded of the power of expression and the stories that need to be told.
Danette Newton, a seasoned artist armed with oil paints and acrylics, originates from a modest background. Her vibrant, geometric designs are interlaced with abstract, figural landscapes, produced free-hand demonstrating the beauty in natural imperfections. Newton’s creations are a dynamic exploration of color relationships, and an empathetic ode to the perfectly flawed human condition.
