About this artwork
Begun on January 5, 2026, oil and amber on canvas, 162 x 130 cm. It is a long and patient process. I should mention here that I never use an image projector, and that, based on a geometric framework, a regulating line, everything is done directly with a brush on the canvas, balancing rigor and improvisation. To begin this work, once the structure is defined, everything is laid out with a single color—in this case, burnt umber, mixed only with turpentine—and…
then I work on the glazes of color. If all goes well, depending on my energy and my exhibition schedule, I hope to finish this painting at the end of May or June.

Daniel Olivier, a painter and draftsman trained from childhood, excels in the mastery of oil painting, where he experiments with mixtures of rare oils and complex glazes.
