About this artwork
The artwork "Perchta at Bothmer Castle" was created as part of the Klütz Culture Night 2021 in the park of Bothmer Castle, Northern Germany. I staged a performative video installation on the theme of the blue hour. It is a performative self-presentation. The series "French Connections" and other video artworks were created as part of this project. The works were presented in the glasshouses (greenhouses) in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and in the… Champagne region. This was a German-French exchange project. A more detailed description can be found on my website. It was nominated for the finalist exhibition of the 2025 International Competition at the Fondazione Castello di Sartirana, Italy.
Daniela Melzig, an interdisciplinary German artist trained in Maastricht, Eupen, and Remscheid, creates transparent objects, performances, and installations. Her approach is characterized by the fusion of traditional glassmaking techniques and diverse media, including printmaking, painting, performance, film, and photography. This results in spaces of transparency and lightness, reminiscent of early photographic plates on glass, reflecting space and time in color and form. Her works embody transience and evoke memories, offering a space for the expression of timeless thoughts in snapshots of fleeting moments.
