About this artwork
In my work, night is a womb, a place of welcome and rebirth. It's the moment when the world retreats from the din of the day to reveal a more silent and mystical beauty. The bubbles of light and the stars are the manifestation of the magic I perceive when I'm in a moonlit forest. I want the observer to feel that moment of suspension, when the mind calms and connects with the beating heart of nature.
The large body of water in the foreground is crucial.… It doesn't reflect perfectly, but distorts and breaks the light into flickering lines and dots. It symbolizes our subconscious mind or soul: calm on the surface, yet ever-moving, containing the reflections, dreams, and anxieties of the higher world.
I created this work as an invitation to find peace and beauty in the darkness. Even when the outside world is dark, there is an inner light and a wealth of detail just waiting to be noticed and celebrated.
