About this artwork
The woman is deliberately not depicted in her entirety, as if to indicate a process of separation between the visible self and the hidden one, between the part of the self that offers itself and the one that remains inaccessible.
The position of the hands with the palms facing upwards is intended to indicate an act of welcome but also of… trust.
A female figure who is ready to receive and give, but at the same time expresses an inner distance, an intention of not wanting to be completely reachable.
The use of rust allowed me to give the work a sense of time gone by, of decay and resistance.
Rust becomes a symbol of transformation. A material that remains, that resists, that regenerates, a decidedly raw and imperfect element that dialogues with the female figure.

It's said that art doesn't produce what's visible, but makes visible what isn't always visible. Broad, generous brushstrokes and seemingly random brushstrokes form the backdrop to faces that I try to bring to life on the canvas, as if to bring emotions to life. Each of my works is the result, never planned, of the constant interaction between what I feel inside and what is revealed on the canvas. In an ongoing dialogue, which allows an emotion to grow and evolve, giving it shape and color.
