This work marks a new phase within my butterfly relief series.
The installation explores the delicate balance between form, shadow, and symbolic presence. A swarm of butterflies conveys both stillness and subtle movement – a suspended moment between flight and repose.
In a reduced, almost monochromatic color palette, the focus is not on the individual form, but on the collective movement – a rhythm that unfolds across the surface.
Despite its… material density, the work retains a certain lightness and quiet tension. It reflects transformation, transience, and resilience – through that which moves and transforms without noise.

Daria Startseva is a painter with a background in graphic design, trained in Vienna and Helsinki, and, after a career as an art director, devoted herself entirely to art in Zurich. She uses layered oil, acrylic, and mixed media, moving between poetic abstraction and reduced figuration, and experimenting with various media. In her rhythmic, intuitive compositions, she uses color as a vehicle of emotion, making the fleeting visible and the invisible tangible. Her works invite the viewer to intensely experience silent emotions and visual presence.
