About this artwork
"Just Here" depicts a moment of serene presence: figures drift across an open expanse of water, each in their own posture, in their own rhythm. The scene appears light yet focused, devoid of action, devoid of purpose. The bird's-eye view reduces the action to forms, colors, and movements. Bodies become symbols, water becomes atmosphere. What remains is a feeling of calm, of floating, and of inner reflection.

Daria Startseva is a painter with a background in graphic design, trained in Vienna and Helsinki, and, after a career as an art director, devoted herself entirely to art in Zurich. She uses layered oil, acrylic, and mixed media, moving between poetic abstraction and reduced figuration, and experimenting with various media. In her rhythmic, intuitive compositions, she uses color as a vehicle of emotion, making the fleeting visible and the invisible tangible. Her works invite the viewer to intensely experience silent emotions and visual presence.
