Viewed from a bird's-eye perspective, bodies, space, and movement detach themselves from their narrative meaning and become part of a still, suspended moment. People drift on paddleboards across turquoise water—separate from one another and yet connected by rhythm, distance, and light. The elevated perspective creates both distance and intimacy: the individual recedes,… the feeling of presence comes to the fore. Movement slows down, time seems to stand still. A state arises in which nothing exists but the here and now. This work is part of the "Bird Eye View" series, in which everyday scenes are transformed into poetically abstracted compositions from an unusual perspective.

Daria Startseva is a painter with a background in graphic design, trained in Vienna and Helsinki, and, after a career as an art director, devoted herself entirely to art in Zurich. She uses layered oil, acrylic, and mixed media, moving between poetic abstraction and reduced figuration, and experimenting with various media. In her rhythmic, intuitive compositions, she uses color as a vehicle of emotion, making the fleeting visible and the invisible tangible. Her works invite the viewer to intensely experience silent emotions and visual presence.
