About this artwork
slit
Aim. Fire
Point your gaze and fire.
Fire of love.
To see the light again.
This series of works was born from the observation of the ancient walls of my city, Pistoia.
The title "embrasures" comes from the cracks in the walls that allowed for a view while remaining protected and the possibility of aiming weapons through the slits to defend the city.
Today the loopholes are no longer used for these purposes and for me they become a symbol,… a warning.
My message is to no longer point weapons but gazes, to fire but with love.
I'm Dario Longo. I'm afraid of colors, but when I use them, I use fluorescent ones. I can't keep my studio tidy and dream of an empty room. I'd fill a space with objects, but not with words. My art consists of a large shelf of objects. I've never thought of giving them a new life; I've always thought of living with them, of bringing them home and looking at them: you can find beauty in the small details of things that have never been art. My story begins, in fact, when a long time ago I found a foosball player. That's my number one object. Since then, I've found many other objects in life.
