About this artwork
In this work, where the protagonist is always the character from the soccer game of my childhood and adolescence, the player is free, unconstrained by the double movement (forward-backward) to which he is usually constrained: here he gives directions that are on the one hand light indications (the material is reflective) and on the other, directions that follow an irregular path. The directions are not always clear and regular; they often leave margins,…
creating uncertainty, even though ultimately there is a single line to follow, and sometimes you don't want it. The reflective metal sign is taken from used road signs. The wooden protagonist is in its original color, reproduced from a used shutter (which, when closed, allowed only glimpses of light and shadow).

I'm Dario Longo. I'm afraid of colors, but when I use them, I use fluorescent ones. I can't keep my studio tidy and dream of an empty room. I'd fill a space with objects, but not with words. My art consists of a large shelf of objects. I've never thought of giving them a new life; I've always thought of living with them, of bringing them home and looking at them: you can find beauty in the small details of things that have never been art. My story begins, in fact, when a long time ago I found a foosball player. That's my number one object. Since then, I've found many other objects in life.
