In ART 01.17, I explored the sensation of a sudden release—something internal bursting outward before I could fully name it. I worked with ink and acrylic on paper, letting the movement guide me rather than planning the outcome. What emerged felt like a controlled explosion, a form of emotional weather captured mid-storm.
The central form holds a dense mix of deep blues, violets, and earthy greens, punctuated by sharp reds and delicate blacks. These… colors weren’t chosen to represent anything literal—they simply felt necessary in that moment. The splatters, streaks, and diffused edges are not just marks but traces of motion, of decisions made instinctively.
When I look at it now, ART 01.17 feels like a suspended moment between clarity and chaos—like something molecular or cosmic trying to reorganize itself. It’s not about depicting a subject; it’s about holding space for energy, for complexity, for that fragile state between explosion and stillness.
Darko Mesek combines his product design roots with woodworking, creating evocative sculptural wall clocks and larger wall sculptures. His minimalist pieces employ parallel lines and symmetrical shapes with the addition of stained colors and acrylics, reflecting the introspection of life through wood's organic storytelling. His art elicits a poetic silence, beckoning viewers to embrace the serene, rhythmic flow of existence.
