ART 01.31 came from a place of quiet chaos. I wanted to let go completely of form and let the energy of the hand, the breath, the drop, take over. There’s no central figure, no anchor—just a field of movement. Like something organic scattering or gathering, depending on how long you look.
I worked with dense layers of ink and acrylic, allowing the pigments to collide, soak, and bleed into each other. Greens, ochres, reds, blues—they appear almost… by instinct, not decision. Each droplet and stain felt like its own living unit, part of a much larger organism. I didn’t want to control them, only to witness their relationships unfold on paper.
This piece reminds me of things we don’t usually see: under a microscope or far beyond the eye’s reach—fragments of nature, of thought, of memory disassembling and reassembling. It’s a meditation in fragmentation. Nothing is really still, and yet the whole surface feels like a single held breath.
Darko Mesek combines his product design roots with woodworking, creating evocative sculptural wall clocks and larger wall sculptures. His minimalist pieces employ parallel lines and symmetrical shapes with the addition of stained colors and acrylics, reflecting the introspection of life through wood's organic storytelling. His art elicits a poetic silence, beckoning viewers to embrace the serene, rhythmic flow of existence.
