Despite the absurdity, the painting gestures toward resilience: the plant continues to branch and reach, implying that even in a disjointed, artificial environment, something stubborn and alive keeps growing, searching for connection in the mess. Together, these elements create a psychological still life in which the natural urge to grow persists even when identity feels fractured and the world around us seems oddly artificial and out of sync.

David Kurtz, an Oklahoma-born, San Francisco-based painter, began his journey in the arts honing skills under local artists and at Weitzenhoffer College of Fine Arts.
