About this artwork
This work marks the formal introduction to the “Maximalism” series, in which ultra-saturated colors are combined with complex shapes to create extremely detailed works. The title comes from the intricate process of crafting this work. First, the conceptual framework of the work was developed, which involved playing with the shapes and overall symmetry of the work. Next, a color construct was developed, in which a specific color was mapped to…
every single shape in the work. Once this was complete, certain paints and composites were mixed to create unique colors for this work. Furthermore, the work was painted and refined. The entire process took a great bit of time since a myriad of layering of paints and shapes were involved.

« I have, over the years, evolved my style, or genre, into a space that blurs the line between figurative realism and the abstract. »
David Gaither is an award-winning American artist whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions in the United States and in London, Paris, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Japan and Dubai. His works explore subjects relating to mythology, history, science-fiction, etc. Driven by the conceptual, Gaither begins each piece in an almost architectural blue-print format, drawing shapes and patterns in a grid-like system. His artistic process is both lengthy and meticulous, sometimes taking months or years to complete a composition, resulting in "controlled chaos".
