About this artwork
This work involves a detailed study of the world of Maximalism, in the form of a triptych mural that fuses mixed media with a barrage of paints to create an organic/inorganic, larger-than-life experience. The mural is divided into three sections, with three different concepts tying into an overarching theme. The central theme is the journey of life, from present and beyond. The detailed landscape which consists of shooting stars, multi-layered shapes,…
and vibrant colors sets the tone for a more expansive view into the world of Maximalism.
The symbolism of the first panel is Spiritman’s journey through the various layers of the celestial plane. This is reflective in the respective layers and juxtaposition of clouds (e.g., cumulus, stratocumulus, stratus, cirrus, etc.), the glowing radiance of the sun, and the inter-dimensional vortices all round. The first panel represents the experience, wisdom and potential of each individual’s respective journey throughout life.

« I have, over the years, evolved my style, or genre, into a space that blurs the line between figurative realism and the abstract. »
David Gaither is an award-winning American artist whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions in the United States and in London, Paris, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Japan and Dubai. His works explore subjects relating to mythology, history, science-fiction, etc. Driven by the conceptual, Gaither begins each piece in an almost architectural blue-print format, drawing shapes and patterns in a grid-like system. His artistic process is both lengthy and meticulous, sometimes taking months or years to complete a composition, resulting in "controlled chaos".
