I carved this abstract female torso from a block of marble, emphasizing gentle, flowing contours and a pared-back silhouette. The minimalist volumes and hollows convey a balance between classical proportion and modern reduction. Polished to a soft sheen, it holds a strong sculptural presence that complements natural or gallery lighting and makes a refined addition to any room or collection.
This sculpture stands 19” tall on its black granite base.… It is a rather minimalist torso with the emphasis on balance and movement. The pose is more retro than classical in feeling, grace and poise were the elements I wanted to express.
David Green is a self-taught sculptor with over five decades of experience, primarily working with marble and wood, while also exploring drawing, painting, and casting. Through his work, he conveys a profound sense of harmony, connection, and transformation, inviting viewers to reflect and find beauty in the rhythms of form and movement.
