About this artwork
"Golden Jellyfish" is a figurative composition depicting a group of golden jellyfish floating in cerulean waters. More than the anatomical accuracy of these strange creatures, from which a pale phosphorescence emanates, this representation aims to convey the ambivalence between matter and ether, inert and living. A distinct verticality pervades the composition, as if these mindless beings were nonetheless striving to reach the surface. The acrylic…
paints were applied with a palette knife and fingers, using multiple layers of glazes to create effects of transparency and textural richness. The sides are painted continuously, allowing the composition to extend beyond the edges of the canvas.
