About this artwork
I visited Venice and there was such beauty at every turn. While walking down the stairs in the Daniele Hotel, I took in this finial and the amazing craftsmanship all around as I descended to the lobby. It struck me how so often, in our rush to get where we are going, we miss the beauty that surrounds us. There just isn't time to take it all in all the time. But this was a moment when I slowed down and pulled out my sketchpad. I had to.
