About this artwork
The painting "Migration ..." represents the exodus of a whole people towards an unknown destination. The ground is absent from the canvas and the bodies of the characters inverted in order to reinforce the idea of uprooting. They are like a free electron (a mass) in the middle of the table and are no longer inked on the ground. They have lost their bearings.
A suitcase replaces the bust of the characters thus preventing it from knowing whether they… are men or women. The woman, the man, the little girl, the little boy see their forgotten "gender". Indeed, when people, journalists ... speak of themselves, they no longer speak of individuals but of a mass: “Migrants”. The human being in his individuality is denied. Armless, they endure the situation. The suitcase, replacing their trunk, is gilded symbolizing the wealth it carries. This suitcase is the only good they take with them!
