About this artwork
I stand before this surface as if it refuses to reveal itself. At first, I think I see a form—a pressure, a presence, almost a body. Then it slips away. Nothing holds for long. What I take for a figure becomes a trace, then just a variation in the material. I return to it, I insist, and the image withdraws again.
This is not a composition in the traditional sense, but an affected zone, as if something had been there long enough to alter the surface… without ever fixing itself into it. An imprint without a clear origin. What holds me is the tension between appearance and erasure, where each mark feels both deliberate and uncertain.
I can’t tell whether I’m looking at an image coming into being or fading away. Gradually, I realize the subject is not what I see, but what I am trying to see.
