About this artwork
I love painting blues and greys, but especially blues. Prussian blue and phthalocyanine blue in particular. Cobalt blue too.
I paint with oil and a palette knife. Without a plan or preconceived idea.
I really like this medium-sized piece because it speaks to me regardless of how it's hung. In fact, I sign my paintings on the back of the canvas so as not to impose a specific hanging direction, because I've found that my paintings can generally be… appreciated from multiple angles. This is certainly true of this one; I like it from every angle...
I also do not provide a title that could guide the viewer's interpretation.
Everyone is free to see what they want, to let themselves be guided by the web and to dream or meditate.

« To arouse emotions, to try to glimpse the invisible, and to approach the shores of the infinite. »
Through abstract oil paintings, Denys Eustace explores a quest for meaning where philosophy and painting intertwine. His works, nourished by Taoist and Greco-Roman thought, question emptiness, infinity, and impermanence. He is not inspired by the canvases of the masters, but by their writings and research: his in-depth study of Kandinsky's Concerning the Spiritual in Art, for example, the questions posed by Klee and Mondrian, as well as the voices of Lao Tzu, Heraclitus, Pascal, and Shitao, guide his approach.
A self-taught painter, he complemented his training with art history courses at the École du Louvre and by giving lectures. His work has been featured in around one hundred exhibitions, both in France and abroad. He lives and works between Paris and Normandy.
