About this artwork
On a visit to my photography mentor in Los Angeles, I was invited with him to to the Paradise Cove mansion of Max Palevsky, in Malibu. The guests were invited to enjoy a string quartet in the presence of a provocative painting by the Columbian artist Fernando Botero Angulo (19 April 1932 – 15 September 2023.) A pioneer in the computer industry and a founder of computer chip giant Intel, Palevsky is said to have never owned a cell phone or computer.…
He wrote with some lament in 2005 about “the hypnotic quality of computer games, the substitution of a Google search for genuine inquiry, the instant messaging that has replaced social discourse. …” HIs collection was donated to the Los Angeles Country Museum of Art. Note: this is not ink on paper. Singulart does not let me choose photography nor for the process, which is gelatin silver. made by the photographer in her NYC darkroom in the mid-1980's.
