About this artwork
As a photographer for patrons Jeannette Watson Sanger and Christopher "Kip" Forbes, in this photo, I was invited to a planning meeting for a fundraising benefit for the Hayden Planetarium. At the moment I took this photograph of Patti Smith with the committee, she may have been coming up with her idea to start her performance sitting on a toilet seat as the lights came up, and saying as she primped: "Jeannette Watson does my hair....." Bella! Originator and Director of the Community Workshop Program at the International Center of Photography, NYC, taught black-and-white and Cibachrome photography there, 1975 - 1979.
