In this composition, I treated the objects almost like figures. The black bottle in the center strikes me as the groom: upright, simple, austere, in a dark robe. Next to it is the white jug, from which branches and miniature oranges sprout like a festive headdress—a kind of bride, adorned and alive. On the left is the small, empty bowl, which I perceive as a silent witness, perhaps like a guest, present only to complete the scene. The fruits in the… foreground lie like symbolic gifts—signs of fertility, abundance, and new beginnings. This creates the impression of a ceremony in which everyday objects transform their roles. The title "Wedding Ceremony" is, for me, an invitation to view the still life not only formally, but as a symbolic spectacle that simultaneously carries seriousness and joy, stillness and solemnity.
Dietrich Moravec, originally self-taught, maneuvered his way through old-master painting techniques to photorealistic oil, acrylic, and pastel painting. In his style, finely nuanced "color zones" meet sharp reality, creating precise still lifes that evoke a contemplative atmosphere in silence. His focus on everyday objects and their transient details invites us to reconsider the inconspicuous and pause silently in the flow of time.
