About this artwork
I didn't want to paint a classic still life. I was more interested in the tension between the elements.
The branch grows upwards, the fruit pulls it downwards. The containers simply stand there – one stable, the other more reserved, almost a little apart. Nothing moves, and yet it doesn't seem rigid.
While painting, I constantly adjusted small details – edges, weight, spacing – until the balance felt right. Not perfect, but believable.
The… image comes from a state I know well: holding things together while they quietly change. A form of control that is never truly complete. A stillness that demands attention.
Ultimately, the objects represent more than themselves. They represent restraint, pressure, those small decisions that prevent things from tipping over.
