For me, the vase is the focal point in this painting—it supports the branch that arches over everything like a protective arch. The fruit beneath it seems almost sheltered, as if it were part of a greater whole. I'm less concerned with depicting individual objects than with the interplay of calm and vitality: the clarity of the vase, the freshness of the citrus fruits, the energy of the red berries. Against the dark background, this tension condenses…
into an image of stability and inner balance.
