In this image, I wanted to capture a moment of clarity—almost like taking a deep breath. The glass of water, lemon, and orange represents a quiet sanctuary for me. I remember summer days, the first glass of water after a long walk, the play of light on skin. The citrus fruits—freshly cut, bright, vibrant—bring energy to the scene without unbalancing it.
The play of reflections on the glass and surface fascinated me. It's an interplay of transparency,… texture, and light. Almost as if the moment itself were dissolving into its components – and simultaneously condensing. The black background allows for no distractions; everything is right here.
For me, this image represents simplicity that isn't banal. It represents a small scene that speaks louder than many words: freshness, calm, presence. Perhaps it will also remind others how soothing silence can be when it comes from within.
Dietrich Moravec, originally self-taught, maneuvered his way through old-master painting techniques to photorealistic oil, acrylic, and pastel painting. In his style, finely nuanced "color zones" meet sharp reality, creating precise still lifes that evoke a contemplative atmosphere in silence. His focus on everyday objects and their transient details invites us to reconsider the inconspicuous and pause silently in the flow of time.
