Peace comes from within, do not seek it without- so says the Buddha.
The word ‘Bodhi’ in the Sanskrit language means ‘fully awake’ - the state of peace and tranquility. It is very symbolic to Buddha's enlightenment.
In this artwork however, t have endeavoured to take the tree beyond symbolisation and infuse it with self awareness.
The roots of the tree appear to be going deeper and deeper, into the realm of nothingness. The tree appears to be… intuitive, in the state of meditation.
This kind of an intuitive awakening is achieved when we dive deep within ourselves. In this state of awareness, the mind is in perfect harmony with the waves of the universe, thus experiencing bliss and abundance.
"THE ZEN TREE" artwork will always be a reminder of the ultimate human potential which lies within every single one of us. It will gradually lead the viewer to the state of thoughtlessness, which is nothing but the state of Zen.
« Life is an unbroken flow of joy that I attempt to express through my art. »
Divyendu Anand is a sculptor based in India whose works have been featured in solo and group exhibitions nationally. He believes that knowingly and unknowingly, humans seek the infinite and transcendental. The quest to "know unknown forms" is the basis for Anand's works. For him, the medium of creation must be as malleable as possible to give form to his creativity. The material is immaterial, as long as it evokes a sense of freedom and bliss.
