About this artwork
The Arctic series continues with the third painting. The painting process began with the spontaneous idea of not throwing away excess light-colored texture paste that I had prepared for another painting, but using it for a new painting instead. I formed two icebergs, smaller ice floes, and the mountain range in the background. The first layer of paint consists partly of semi-transparent acrylic paint, which is not a problem with a black background.…
Then I applied oil paint; first the sky, then the mountain ridge, the icebergs, the sea, and finally the details. Overall, I put in more effort than I had originally intended. But it is still a simple surrealistic Arctic landscape.
