About this artwork
In Strata of Moss and Mind, I intertwine the external landscape with inner layers of emotional experience. The lower section of the work displays a richly textured, cracked surface—a green-tinged relief reminiscent of moss-covered rock or damp layers of moss. The multi-layered color spaces emerge from the interplay of acrylic, ink, and alcohol, creating organic patterns, deposits, and fine cracks. Over this lies a dyed and hardened canvas, its folds…
creating a softer, more breathable layer. The textile surface overlays the hard structure, simultaneously concealing and revealing. It suggests something fluid, almost alive—a floating, a yielding, an inner layering. These two material planes—the earthy, sediment-like foundation and the overlying, fabric shell—engage in a deliberate dialogue. Like moss spreading over stone, they connect vulnerability and resilience.
