About this artwork
“Soul and Heart” was inspired by the quiet power of age and experience. I wanted to paint more than just a face; I wanted to paint a lifetime. The deep wrinkles, the heavy beard, the faraway look in his eyes—each detail became a way to suggest memories, sacrifices, and love that are no longer visible on the surface but still live inside a person.
In a world that often celebrates youth and speed, this portrait is a pause button. The soft light and… gentle shadows are my way of honoring the dignity and vulnerability of growing older. For me, this man represents all those whose stories are rarely told out loud but are carried silently in their hearts.
With “Soul and Heart,” I invite the viewer to stand close, slow down, and feel that quiet connection—to see not only an old man, but a soul still full of warmth, history, and inner light.
