One day I was watching a movie, and the screen filled entirely with flames — just fire against black.
It struck me. I thought: “That would look amazing printed huge.”
I jotted the idea in my notebook, but for a long time I couldn’t find the right fire to shoot.
So I gave up on waiting. I left the city, built a massive bonfire, took dozens of photos...
and tried to stitch them into a single perfect flame.…
It was awful. A Frankenstein.
Unwatchable.
Back then, there was no AI. So I did what I could:
I picked up my mouse, opened Photoshop, and painted over the stitched image by hand —
every stroke, every flicker, with nothing but a mouse.
What you see here is a true digital handcraft.
No plugins. No models. Just me and a burning obsession.

In his work, familiar objects lose their recognizability; reflections and the distortion of light and shadow transform them into indeterminate forms. The artist’s distinctive style was shaped by a medical condition—visual agnosia—which causes a periodic loss of the ability to recognize objects.
