About this artwork

Inspired by the beautiful sunset in the North Sea, I wrote a poem:

[...]
The sea, tranquil and serene,
reflects the spectacle above,
rippling with echoes of the fiery sky,
as if borrowing its radiance.

Each wave whispers secrets to the shore,
as the salty breeze carries tales untold,
of journeys embarked and dreams pursued,
in the quiet expanse of the twilight sea.

The poem inspired me to make this… artwork and write the poem with metalic foil in the painting. The light will reflect in the texts. Since the light changes during the day, so will the artwork change and come to life.

This painting is made with purple, pink, red, orange, yellow, gold, blue, petrol, and silver acrylics. I used metallic foil for the texts. The artwork is painted on the sides, so it doesn't need a frame. But the artwork can be framed in a blank wooden frame on request. The artwork is ready to be hanged.

Elise Eekhout is a visual artist working at the intersection of painting and graphic design. Her practice explores the language of light, texture, and text. Her paintings therefore never remain static: they are living surfaces, changing with time, movement, and light.
