About this artwork
‘White Bison’
Animals have always held a quiet pull for me. There is a steadiness in the way they move through the world, an instinctive wisdom that feels older than anything we can name. Bisons in particular fascinate me. They are immense, deliberate creatures, yet what strikes me most is their response to difficulty. When a snowstorm rises, they do not turn away. They walk into it, knowing that moving through the heart of the weather brings them… out of it sooner. I have always believed there is a lesson in that — one that speaks to courage, endurance, and the strange clarity that comes from facing what we would rather avoid.
This painting, White Bison, grew out of that admiration. I created two similar works in this style. The larger piece, thirty-six by thirty-six inches, has already found its home. The second, thirty by thirty inches, is still available.
Ellie Rich is a Ukrainian-born painter and photographer, now based in Colorado, whose multidisciplinary background weaves visual storytelling, fine art, and photography into her creative practice. She employs expressive, atmospheric techniques—layering acrylic paint on large canvases to evoke depth, cinematic light, and nuanced movement, intuitively blending natural, muted palettes with dramatic contrasts. Her works explore themes of memory, mysticism, and resilience, often through animal forms and windswept landscapes. Ellie’s art radiates a quiet power and invites personal reflection, conveying an otherworldly stillness and emotional presence that lingers long after the viewer departs.
