Dutch sculptor Elly de Jong always wanted to play with clay at nursery school, and enjoyed helping her father- a pastry baker- sculpt things out of marzipan. Jong draws inspiration from nature, animals, and the people around her. She works with a variety of materials including wood, glass, bronze, paper, steel, porcelain, and plastics. Jong's figurative sculptures are whimsical yet grounded.
