About this artwork
Emi created this piece with an inspiration of Aboriginal art. She talks about how her state of mind was when she was making this art work - " I remember my mind stopped talking and eventually it went completely silent when I was painting the dots one by one as if I were a dot! I often do dots painting when my mind is scattered everywhere. It helps me to come back to peace."

« I feel extremely happy when what I paint manifests as an idyll on the canvas I am working on. I then know that I can stop and walk away from it! »
Emi is an exciting painter based in Australia who has exhibited her work internationally. Her art is a meld of an abstract, ethereal patina inspired by Japanese aesthetics and the brazen vernacular of the Australian landscape. Emi employs a litany of mediums including silver leaf and sumi ink to compose paintings that transmit feelings of optimism. Overall, they seek to reconcile ideas of self, heritage and culture.
