In this piece, I fused delicate layers of collage, watercolor, and ink to evoke a dreamlike state where minimalism meets surrealism. The subtle interplay of muted pigments and fragmented forms invites reflection, bridging the serene calm of oriental art with expressive emotion. Emi is a Japanese contemporary abstract artist based in Sydney, Australia. With a background in fashion design in New York and Tokyo, her creative journey brings together Japanese aesthetics and an international perspective.
Exhibited internationally, including Paris, Tokyo and Sydney, her work combines traditional Japanese pigments, genuine gold and silver leaf with contemporary techniques developed through years of exploration.
Deeply influenced by classical music and her passion for ballet, Emi paints intuitively, allowing sound, movement and unexpected discoveries to guide her work.
