About this artwork
Clairs de lune unfolds a nocturnal and cosmic energy against a deep, unstable, and vibrant purple background. The composition is structured by large curved lines and a strong diagonal, which the eye follows like an irreversible trajectory.
The dark lines, streaked with incandescent yellow, concentrate the tension: light flows through them in a channeled fashion, at the very heart of the material. The gesture is continuous, controlled, affirming… a passage from hesitation to decision. Peripheral scratches and splashes keep the canvas in a state of perpetual vibration.
Between lyrical abstraction and atmospheric space, the work engages in a dialogue through its relationship to light.
It marks a key stage, a painting of movement, tension and the affirmation of gesture.
Eric Delahaye, a visual artist who works primarily with paint, first gained recognition as a performance painter. Employing a palette knife, he has perfected his unique style, blending abstraction, semi-abstraction, and conceptual art. Through his "Vibrations" and "Effusion" series, he expresses his inner contrasts: masculine and feminine, shadow and light, joy and sorrow. His works evoke a profound sense of freedom, presenting a universe filled with emotion and reflection. Today, Eric is forging his own path in contemporary abstraction. His works are as much mirrors of emotions as they are bursts of life.
