About this artwork
Hérissé is an intuitive and conceptual work, born from a spontaneous gesture, like a brutal and sincere capture of an inner moment. Through a vibrant palette of reds and oranges, enhanced by accents of luminous yellow, the canvas pulses, vibrates, and seems to capture the heartbeats of the being.
The composition, chaotic and rhythmic, evokes the twists and turns of thought at a given moment—like an emotional electrocardiogram. It is the raw reflection… of inner turmoil, of what is not said but is imprinted on us.
The bristling shapes, the sharp or shattered lines, convey the intensity, the tensions, the bursts of a living and untamed thought. Hérissé does not impose a single reading: each person is invited to project their own inner movements onto it, to read its echoes, its chaos, its pulsations.
Eric Delahaye, a visual artist who works primarily with paint, first gained recognition as a performance painter. Employing a palette knife, he has perfected his unique style, blending abstraction, semi-abstraction, and conceptual art. Through his "Vibrations" and "Effusion" series, he expresses his inner contrasts: masculine and feminine, shadow and light, joy and sorrow. His works evoke a profound sense of freedom, presenting a universe filled with emotion and reflection. Today, Eric is forging his own path in contemporary abstraction. His works are as much mirrors of emotions as they are bursts of life.
