About this artwork
Colors in the range of brown, purple, various shades of orange and red evoke associations with processes in nature, without becoming concrete in any way. The white image background enhances the contrast in the scene. Colors running down, which overlap at the same time, evoke associations with processes of dissolution. This also applies to the body-like elements in the picture, which lack any relation to each other and are constantly changing according… to the principle of "floating", which Heel repeatedly brings to bear in his pictures. The work lives from the many color gradations and overlays, which also give the visually recorded process something mysterious. The beauty of an amber that may change under heat (burning amber) could be a possible interpretation.
« For some, the motifs of the highly expressive pictures by the Bonn artist Ernst-Martin Heel resemble a natural event. -Kölner Rundschau »
Ernst-Martin Heel is an artist living in Germany. Over the past decades, he has presented his work to an art-loving public in numerous solo exhibitions and his pieces are included in private collections in the USA, Spain, and Switzerland. His art has been reviewed in various publications and national newspapers such as the WAZ (Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung). His paintings explore fundamental forces of existence in their upheavals, while maintaining an abstract and expressive formal language. However, the inherent chaos finds a rigorous harmony in his art. The principle of "floating" as a fundamental element of life is consistently reflected in his predominantly dynamic paintings.
